Explore the garden by fragrance and flower colour

The two rose gardens offer different ways to appreciate roses. The Fragrance Rose Garden is themed around six fragrance types, including fruity and spicy notes. In the Colour Rose Garden, roses are arranged by flower colour. You can follow the varieties while comparing their fragrances, or take in the colour groupings. The garden’s different themes make it easy to explore around 336 varieties of autumn roses at your own pace.

Between garden walks, stop by Shiki no Kaori Market & Cafe in the Workshop Building. The market stocks Neri-Collection certified products and rose- and herb-themed goods, while the cafe offers rose-shaped soft-serve ice cream and Halloween-only sweets. It is open every day during the festival, from 10:00 to 16:00. Items may sell out.

The Autumn Harvest Marche & Food Trucks are also scheduled in front of the Workshop Building on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, from 10:00 to 16:00. The event will be cancelled in rainy weather, and vendors vary by day. If you are looking for rose plants, the scheduled sales dates may help you choose when to visit: Fuminori Nukariya (Apple Roses) is due to sell plants on November 8, while Shibuya Engei is scheduled to sell rose and flower seedlings on November 14 and 15.

The Children’s Eco Contest Exhibition runs from October 23 to November 8 on the first floor of the Workshop Building. It showcases works from recent entries depicting nature, plants and other subjects under the theme of “Greenery and the Environment.” A Rose Fragrance Quiz is also available at the same location, with registration on the day. Visitors who answer every question correctly can receive an original 10th-anniversary postcard.

Check times and conditions for date-specific events

KID’S DAY on October 24 and 25 brings together activities for children and families. On the 24th, a police motorcycle and patrol car will be in front of the Workshop Building from 10:00 to 12:00 for commemorative photos and the chance to sit in the vehicles. The event will be cancelled in rainy weather. The Ghost Hunt runs on both days from 14:00 to 15:00. It will go ahead in light rain but be cancelled in rainy weather. Sweets are available to children up to and including elementary school age, with a limit of 150 per day on a first-come, first-served basis; distribution ends when they run out.

Photo sessions with Nerimaru are scheduled on both days from 14:30 to 15:00 on the lawn in the Fragrance Rose Garden. In rainy weather, they will move to the Workshop Building. On the 25th, Neri-Neko☆彡 and Nerikon VV from Neri☆Eco are also scheduled to appear as special guests.

On the 25th, visitors can also make a Halloween Flower Bottle by choosing dried flowers and arranging them in a small bottle. Sessions start at 11:00 and 13:00. Participation costs JPY 300 per session, with space for 40 people per session. Sign up on the day at the reception on the first floor of the Workshop Building, which opens 30 minutes before each session.

The Fragrance Garden Tour takes place on November 1 and 7, from 11:00 to 11:45. Walk through the garden with a gardener and learn how to enjoy its fragrances. Participation is free, with space for 10 people per session. Registration opens at 10:30 on the first floor of the Workshop Building. The tour will go ahead in light rain but be cancelled in severe weather.

The Make a Hanging Basket with Pretty Violas workshop takes place on November 14, with sessions at 10:00 and 14:00. Each session costs JPY 5,800 and has space for 20 people. The application deadline is October 26. Apply using the online form or by return postcard; each person may submit one application per event. Applicants will be notified of the result within seven days of the deadline.

The Autumn Concert on November 8 takes place in the Colour Rose Garden, with two 40-minute performances at 11:00 and 14:00. A string quartet from the Waseda University Symphony Orchestra will perform the first movements of String Quartet No. 2 by Mendelssohn and Schumann, as well as Kreisler’s “Liebesfreud,” among other pieces. The programme also includes “Beauty and the Beast” and “A Town with an Ocean View” from the film Kiki’s Delivery Service. No advance registration is required. In rainy weather, the concert will move to the first floor of the Workshop Building. Attendance will be limited, and numbered tickets will be distributed on the day.
