Connecting Stations, Parks, and Sluice Gates on the Way to Hamura Weir
The route departs from Seibu-Tachikawa Station and passes the culverted section of the canal, Kohake Bridge, Haijima Station, Nikko Bridge, and Mizukuraido Park before entering Fussa. After lunch, the group continues along Shukubashi Street, Kami-Josui Park, the No. 3 Sluice Gate, and the Tamagawa Brothers Statue, finally arriving at the Hamura Intake Weir, Hamura City Tourist Information Center, and JR Hamura Station. It is a long-distance course of about 10 km that weaves together local bridges, parks, and water gates.
The core experience of the tour is following the Tamagawa Josui canal upstream toward the Hamura Intake Weir while discovering the distinctive appeal of Fussa, Hamura, and Akishima. Your guides will be Hamura City tourism guides and Akishima town-walking navigators. Promoted by organizers as a walk along the lush, verdant Tamagawa Josui, the course itself—visiting numerous points of interest one after another—is the main highlight.
Lunch is scheduled within Fussa, advertised in event announcements as including an "antique dining lunch." The participation fee covers lunch and insurance, payable in cash on the day of the event. Because of the walking distance, participants should wear comfortable, well-broken-in walking shoes, dress in easy-to-move-in clothing, and bring drinks to stay hydrated.
Application Deadline Is October 15; Confirm the Exact Meeting Point in Advance
The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with meeting time set for 8:20 a.m. Prospective participants must apply by October 15 via the dedicated online form or by phone. Capacity is limited to 20 participants; if applications exceed this number, a lottery will be held. Lottery results will be sent out starting October 16. Those interested should submit their application by the deadline and await notification.
The participation fee is 2,300 yen, which includes lunch and insurance, collected on the day of the walk. It is also wise to confirm the exact meeting point when applying. While the itinerary lists Seibu-Tachikawa Station first, the announcement does not specify the precise meeting location. For inquiries, contact the Fussa City Tourist Information Center Kurumiru Fussa at 042-530-2341. Because travel times from the station are not noted, be sure to verify access details with the organizers before you set out.
