A changing programme and time to enjoy the sunset
Sunset Festa in Kojima alternates each year between Washuzan and Mount Ojigatake. In 2026, it will be held at the Summit Lawn on Mount Ojigatake. The festival centres on enjoying a concert alongside the sunset over the Seto Inland Sea.
On October 31, Coji Ska Orchestra performs from 3:30 pm, followed by LYRI GROUP at 4:10 pm. After the opening at 4:30 pm, LYRI GROUP performs again from 4:40 pm. Time to watch the sunset begins at 4:50 pm, with sunset expected at around 5:12 pm. At 5:10 pm, Yoshinobu Omura on chromatic harmonica and Atsuko Kobayashi on piano take the stage. A local-products prize draw follows at 5:40 pm, before Cousin’s concert begins at 5:50 pm.
On November 1, the programme features Urashima Ryukyu Gakudan from 3:30 pm, Bizen Okayama Shishimai Taiko Uta from 4:10 pm, and a Tokohai Shimotsui-bushi dance performance at 4:30 pm, bringing local performing arts alongside the music. Sunset viewing begins at 4:50 pm, with sunset expected at around 5:11 pm. Tsugaru shamisen player Yu Mimura performs from 5:10 pm, followed by a local-products prize draw at 5:40 pm. Kojima Yuga Taiko takes the stage at 5:50 pm, and the event ends at 6:30 pm.
The programme differs between the two days. Choose the first day for Coji Ska Orchestra, Cousin, or harmonica and piano performances; choose the second for shishimai taiko uta, Shimotsui-bushi, Tsugaru shamisen, and taiko. The sunset-viewing period and expected sunset time also vary by day, so you can plan around the day’s schedule.
From lunchtime salt-themed food to sunset
Food stalls will be open at the venue on both days. The same site also hosts “Bichu Shiosai in Kojima” from 11 am, a food event centred on salt. You can arrive before the festival begins at 3:30 pm and spend the afternoon enjoying the food event before moving on to the evening performances. Specific stall menus are not listed.
Admission is free. The pricing information also states “expenses apply”; individual prices, including for food and drink, are not listed, so budget according to what you plan to buy.
The event is scheduled to go ahead in light rain. For updates on the day, including whether it will be cancelled in bad weather, check the audio information service. It is expected to get quite cold after sunset, so bring warm clothing if you plan to stay for the sunset and later performances.
A free shuttle bus runs from JR Kojima Station, but check the flyer for operating details. Parking is limited, and Omocha Okoku is listed as a temporary parking area. Check the detailed transport information, including shuttle bus operations on the day, before setting out to make planning easier.
