Event highlights

Enjoy Oishida’s new soba, prepared using a traditional local method

Known as a home of soba, Oishida has long grown its own buckwheat and prepared the soba using a distinctive method passed down in the region. At the festival, you can taste freshly harvested soba from Oishida.

The phrase used to describe the new soba is “ground fresh, made fresh, boiled fresh,” with “harvested fresh” added. The event celebrates not only how the soba is prepared, but also the buckwheat grown locally.

As well as soba noodles, you can try kaimochi, a type of sobagaki. The festival offers another way to enjoy soba, and local specialties are also on sale, giving you a chance to discover more regional products alongside the new soba and kaimochi.
