Event highlights

A ceremony to pray for many kinds of meaningful connections

The shrine’s principal deity, Tamayori-hime-no-Mikoto, is worshipped as a deity of matchmaking and good relationships. The festival’s prayers are for more than romantic partnerships: they also include good relationships with family and friends, as well as at work. You can attend with thoughts of the connections that matter to you, from relationships with those close to you to professional ties.

In 2026, the festival dates are October 10–12 and October 17–18. The prayer ceremony is held every hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. Please register at least 15 minutes before the time you wish to attend. Advance reservations are not required.

The offering is ¥5,000. A special amulet for the festival is also available. Choosing your ceremony time and when to register in advance can make it easier to plan your day.

Exploring the meaning of musubi through omusubi

Alongside the festival, the Enmusubi Market is held at the former Kamadoji Temple site and lower plaza. Well-known shops from across the prefecture serve omusubi. As well as attending the prayer ceremony, visitors can connect with the festival’s theme through food.

The event information links the origins of omusubi to musuhi, a word also found in the name of a deity. This idea holds that omusubi express gratitude and prayers for a peaceful, healthy life, as well as the importance of nurturing life and bringing things together. The festival’s theme of praying for good relationships can be appreciated through the name and meaning of this food.

The market runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is canceled in severe weather. If you plan to attend the prayer ceremony, register in time for your chosen session and consider visiting the market before or afterward.

The venue is a short walk from the Uchiyama stop on the Dazaifu City Community Bus Mahoroba-go. From Nishitetsu Dazaifu Station, it is about 10 minutes by car or 40 minutes on foot. Parking is available for ¥500 per day. Plan your ceremony and market visits around your chosen mode of transport.
