Event highlights

From the tunnel of light to the Moon Dome

Now in its 25th season, the event’s theme is “DREAM LIGHTS SYMPHONY: A Forest of Light from a Dream of Long Ago.” Light and music fill six areas, creating a story-like illumination experience that connects the scenery as you walk.

At the heart of the stroll is the “Hikari no Tunnel,” about 300 metres long. Five different spaces follow one another, taking you from the pink “Fantasy Road,” where flowers seem to dance, to “Starlight Road,” evoking a starry night, and “Enchanted Cave,” where sound and light create a series of scenes. On “Night Sky Road,” a moon-shaped object appears straight ahead, drawing you towards the story’s climactic finale.

At the entrance, a 20-metre symbol tree surrounded by lanterns welcomes visitors. Highlights also include a tree inspired by Mount Fuji and “Lantern Garden,” where lantern light brightens the night sky. Look out for the distinct character of each area, from the European-style buildings and lantern-lit scenery to “Slow House Twinkle,” where Mount Fuji and the lights come together at dusk.

In the paid “Mori no Sumika” area, a fantastical church appears beyond Enchanted Cave. “Path in the Clouds,” in shades of white with touches of lavender and baby blue, is a dreamy walkway that feels like wandering through soft, fluffy clouds. At the story’s final destination, the “Good Night Dome,” a moon about five metres in diameter appears to float, bringing the journey through light to a quiet close.

The other paid area, “Okyu no Oka,” is themed around “Fountain Castle,” inspired by water and magic. Highlights include a night walk surrounded by blue light and a sea of lights viewed from “Hikari no Sanpomichi,” inspired by a river created by a magical fountain. Alongside the colour-changing “Love Bell,” one of the world’s largest swing bells, visitors to Okyu no Oka can also ride the carousel for free.

Choose your areas and performance dates

Okyu no Oka hosts a fountain laser show with water reaching a maximum height of 150 metres. The programme combines water, light and sound, with the fountains moving in response to the laser beams. The show takes place in the paid Okyu no Oka area. It may be cancelled for safety reasons in severe weather, and depending on the wind direction, you may get wet. Check the official information for show times and number of performances on regular days, based on your visit date.

Performances vary by date. The dance collaboration with “SHOJIN ENTERTAINMENT LABO,” produced by world-renowned choreographer SHOJIN, is scheduled for some Saturday performances from October to December. On selected dates, there is also “Night Bubblyum,” a show featuring bubbles surrounded by light. If there’s a particular performance you want to see, check its date before choosing when to visit.

For opening day, October 9, 2026, the announced schedule included “Beer Kingdom: Autumn Beer Festival” from 4:00 pm, a free-to-watch Masquerade Dance Show from 5:00 pm, and the lighting ceremony from 5:30 pm. The announcement also listed a fountain laser show and dance collaboration at Okyu no Oka, as well as fireworks at 8:00 pm. These details were announced specifically for opening day; check them separately from performance information for any future visit.

The event runs from October 9, 2026, to March 7, 2027. Illumination hours vary by period: 5:00 pm–10:00 pm from October 9 to 31 (on October 9, the time follows the lighting ceremony); 4:30 pm–10:00 pm from November 1 to January 11, 2027; and 5:00 pm–9:30 pm from January 12 to March 7. These are the illumination hours, not the facility’s opening hours, so check the schedule for your visit date.

Admission to the paid areas costs JPY 1,300 for adults (junior high school students and older) and JPY 700 for elementary school students at Okyu no Oka; and JPY 700 for adults (junior high school students and older) and JPY 400 for elementary school students at Mori no Sumika. A combined ticket for both areas costs JPY 1,800 for adults and JPY 1,000 for elementary school students. Children below school age enter free, and free areas are also available. If you want to see the fountain laser show, consider a ticket that includes Okyu no Oka; if you want to visit the church and Path in the Clouds, consider one that includes Mori no Sumika. Admission discounts are available on presentation of a disability certificate, but do not apply to electronic tickets.

Re-entry is not permitted after entering. Visitors are advised to watch out for icy paths in winter, so take care where you walk. Please refrain from live-streaming across the grounds, and do not post full-length footage on social media. Decide which areas and performances you want to see, then plan your visit around the illumination hours and conditions on the day.
