Enjoy local restaurant dishes in a snow hut
Each winter, a large snow hut about 3 m high and 5 m in diameter is built in Onogawa Onsen town. Inside, tables and chairs offer a comfortable place to sit and take in the snowy scenery.
Inside the snow hut, you can enjoy Yonezawa ramen and other dishes delivered from restaurants in the hot spring town. Savoring a steaming bowl of ramen surrounded by snow is one of the event’s highlights.
Onogawa Onsen is said to have a history of about 1,200 years. According to legend, Ono no Komachi healed an illness in its hot springs while traveling. As you spend time in a snow hut, you can also reflect on the stories passed down in the hot spring town.
